The traditional settlement of Oia is located
in the southern tip of Santorini, on a 350m height,
11km from Fira Town. It is famous all around the world
for the magnificent sunset. Visitors, Greeks and foreigners,
gather every day at dawn in order to witness this miracle
of nature. Each one is different from the previous and
visitors are encouraged to observe a truly unique sunset
well worth saving on film.
All houses are sunk deep into the volcanic soil, following
the traditional architecture of Cyclades islands. Their
whitewashed walls and blue domes sparkle into the sunlight
creating a unique landscape.
If you take a stroll around the village you will find
many shops selling handicrafts, souvenir, jewelry and
other items. Hotels satisfy all tastes providing a pleasant
staying to all guests.
Directly below is the beach of Ammoudi, accessible only
on foot, following the 214 stairs, and Armeni 286 stairs
below. Both beaches have crystal clear waters and fresh
fish.
